Group photo of the 2016 cohort of resident physicians.[/caption]A weeklong welcome for the new class of Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital residents and celebration of rising second- and third-year residents culminated in an event with the unusual title of Lovefest.“I still love the puzzled expressions I get when I invite people to Lovefest,” jokes medical education director and assistant professor of pediatrics Raquel Hernandez, M.D., M.P.H. “It’s a way for us to use the love, success and accomplishments of the past year and catapult us toward more excellence in the coming year. Lovefest actually started on our Baltimore campus, and I wanted to bring the tradition down to Florida for our pediatric residents, she explains. “It’s the feel-good moment of the year for residents where we celebrate our accomplishments and take in the success. It’s all about the love.”After a week filled with learning more about the hospital and meeting physicians, faculty and staff, Lovefest gave the first-year residents a look at their future. The event was filled with memories and awards for the more senior residents and a formal lab coat ceremony in which each new resident received a traditional white coat embroidered with their name and the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital logo.
