Mentors Still Needed for Innovation Scholars

This fall, the USF St. Pete campus is launching the fifth year of the Innovation Scholars Career Shadowing Program.  Started through an unique collaboration between USF and the Innovation District, the program provides job shadowing opportunities for incoming, high-achieving, first-year students. The students are partnered with professionals in and around downtown/Innovation District to get a head start in exploring their career path by giving them a sneak peak into the day-to-day activities of the professional world.

Mentors are still needed for the Fall 2023 cohort in the areas of environmental and criminal law; social work; accounting; dermatology and dentistry; journalism; graphic design; writing and illustrating; veterinarians; and realtors. Interested mentors can fill out this form.

The program requires only six hours in a semester.  You will have an impact on the future workforce of St. Pete.

2025 marked the 11th year for the St. Petersburg Science Festival and the 30th year for Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute's MarineQuest. It was a fantastic opportunity for 1200+ 4th and 5th graders on School Days and 9K+ community members on the Public Day to participate in hands-on activities exploring all facets of STEAM. Kudos to the sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers and Steering Committee for another successful year.
