The Yacht Rigger is a marine specialist group in Salt Creek dedicated to marine upgrades and maintenance, from rigging, electrical, lithium batteries, custom metal fabrication, air conditioning, deck hardware and much more. Beginning in 2017, the team identified an opportunity in the market leading them into solar retrofits on new and used vessels. This was inspired by the improvements in lithium battery technology both in price and power density, along with improvements in power density in solar panels. The power density and cost of lithium for today’s solar arrays have dramatically improved and the bifacial panels the team use are uniquely retrofitted to the vessel to ensure maximum production as well as extreme durability so they are not lost or damaged in storms. Their unique mounting techniques prevent long-term micro cracking of the solar cells, resulting in consistent higher outputs over the life of the panel. Their clients are living proof that it is possible to live on a boat with air conditioning with very minimal charging times from generators or alternators, due to the efficiency gains from large lithium banks, huge solar arrays and efficient air conditioning systems. The Yacht Rigger was also directly involved in the development of a brand new award winning alternator regulator called the Arco Zeus, which significantly improves the way high output externally regulated alternators are controlled when used with lithium battery systems. This technology again reduces generator run times as vessels can charge their lithium systems while motoring to their destination.
